About Joy

Joy was born in England, but spent the first half of her life in Medellin, Colombia with her parents and four siblings. She started playing piano at 9 years old, after begging for lessons for five years. She started playing on worship teams at her church when she was 13. She began her BMus at 16, at the University of EAFIT in Medellin, and her MMus at 21 at The University of Toledo in Ohio; she discovered her love of introducing others to the joy of playing piano right from the beginning of her studies.

After marrying and moving to Canada, Joy has enjoyed homeschooling her 5 children, and making music an intrinsic part of their education. Homeschooling has been excellent training for Joy in tailoring education and music learning to each individual student's needs, strengths, weaknesses, loves, and preferences.

During her free time Joy can be found painting, sewing, crocheting, and enjoying friendships and meaningful relationships with the many people that surround her in her life as a pastor’s wife.

  • Joy's lessons are located in her home in the Huron Community in Kitchener.
